Psalms 87:11-13 “Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.“
My prayer: Teach me your way O Lord, that I may walk in your truth.
The world is all too ready to teach me its way. The way of the world is blaring at me from all angles, shouting from the rooftops, cornering me in the streets… but it is completely different from the way of the Lord. In the kingdom of God, everything is upside down and topsy-turvy (at least according to the world’s point of view). Love your enemies… pray for those who persecute you… repay good for evil… the first shall be last and the last shall be first… the greatest must be a servant… the list goes on and on.
Lord, teach me your way! I want to follow you and walk in your truth! Psalms 25: 4-5 “Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”
My prayer: Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
Far too often, my heart is divided, it is not wholly devoted to God. So many things tug at me, trying to pull my attention away from where it needs to be! But the Lord wants all of my heart, not the little pieces of it that I can “spare” Him. Oh how I want an undivided heart, a heart focused completely on God!
Jeremiah 32:38-39 says in reference to the Israelites, “They will be my people, and I will be their God. I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me for their own good and the good of their children after them.”
I find it interesting that the concept of an undivided heart is closely linked with fearing God’s name. I think that once we begin to truly understand who God is, to grasp the depth of His love and grace and justice and holiness, we will not be able to help being completely devoted to Him, set apart for His service.
Father, give me an undivided heart! So many different voices are calling out to me, trying to grab my attention and pull my focus away from you. Father, let me turn deaf ears to them, ears tuned only to your voice. Give me a heart solely devoted to your service Father, a heart solely devoted to You!
My Prayer: Let me glorify your name forever, praising you with all of my heart! Great is your love toward me, for you have saved me!
Psalms 117: 2 “For great is His love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord.“
Psalms 118:1 “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.“
And here is one of my new favorite verses – I just found it!
Psalms 116:7 “Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.”
Read through that again and again. There is such comfort in that thought; an overwhelming amazing peace washes over me when I read those words.
Be at rest, don’t be worried! The Lord has been good to you in the past, and He will continue to be good to you today! Thank you Father for all that You’ve done and for all that You are! Father, let me glorify your name forever, may my lips never fail to sing your praises!
So, this is my prayer! That I may have an undivided heart, a heart that is 100% dedicated to serving the Lord! That I will know and follow in His way, and that I will sing His praises forever!
