Sometimes inspiration flows like a river and it can be quite difficult to navigate and keep your head above water amidst the tumult of ideas and brilliant new storylines!
Today I summarized and wrote a basic outline for an entirely new three book series that I hope to actually have time to write some day! I’m so excited about it. My fingers are itching to start typing this new novel. But all in good time. For the past few weeks, the idea for yet another book has been growing in the back of my mind. With the manuscripts and ideas I’m working on right now, that makes a total of seven books that I cannot wait to write! At the moment, I’m jotting ideas down like crazy and storing them away in top secret locations until I have more time on my hands.
Unfortunately, while ideas are abundant at present (Thank you, Lord!), time is not so plentiful. College classes consume time and energy and are, I find, quite stifling to creativity. J I’m on fall break for the moment so I’ve been cramming in as much writing and riding and family time as I can around homework! Actually, I’m afraid I’ve been procrastinating and putting off homework until later. Unfortunately, that must stop tomorrow!
One thing that I have discovered over the past few weeks – or perhaps I should say rediscovered, after a year and a half off from school – is that paper writing is by no means comparable to manuscript writing and not nearly as fun! Although listening to the epic Gladiator soundtrack in some ways alleviates the pain of paper writing, I would much rather be in an epic sword fight to the death than attempting to slay paper assignments. For one thing, papers can be so elusive and lightweight that it is quite difficult to pin them down and finish them off!
So, at present, as far as writing goes, I’m working on a re-write of Song of Leira while planning out the second book in the series and storing ideas for future work! I’ve also been busy with some of the prep work to put together a book trailer for Out of Darkness Rising! Another exciting step! Life is quite an adventure! Which is a good thing, because it would be so incredibly sad if it were boring!

I agree – it would be tragic if life was boring. I know exactly how it can be trying to fit writing into the rest of life, though. If only the whole 'rich and famous' thing was true… then we could afford to do nothing but write! : )

Gladiator soundtrack – XD. Oh my. Wish college allowed for more creative writing instead of editorials and film critiques. :P You have reminded me that some ideas must be written down. Story lines come at the most inconvenient times when one is not near a laptop or pen and paper. lol. Happy writing!

Yes! You know someone is a writer when you're in the middle of a conversation and their eyes suddenly glaze over and they dash away mid-sentence to start scribbling madly on the nearest napkin, scrap of paper, their hand or whatever else is presently available! The life of a writer is never dull.
