In Blue Moon, a short story written by Nichole White, faeries aren’t the typical delicate creatures you see in old movies. They use tracking devices, advanced combat techniques, and pack laser blasters. Monsters beware when the F.A.H (Faeries Among Humans) comes to town. This time however, F.A.H soldier Z1 Mara isn’t hunting just any monster. It’s a ghoul. A very hungry ghoul. And it’s bearing down on Chicago.
She’s already survived one brush with the monster, but she’s somewhat the worse for the wear with ghoul venom coursing through her shoulder! If Mara can’t stop the ghoul in time, Chicago might very well be destroyed and the people annihilated.
Blue Moon was an enjoyable read, with a strong main character you can’t help but cheer on in her impossible fight. I liked Nichole’s take on the faeries and their monster fighting methods. Vivid description and strong word pictures help bring the story to life. Add to that a creative premise, and a gorgeous cover, and you’ve got a great short story to dig into.
Blue Moon has me eagerly awaiting Nichole’s next release. This time, I hope it’s a full length novel!
Note – I received a free copy of this book from the author for the purpose of writing an honest review!

Ooh, sounds like fun! Though I can't help thinking Artemis Fowl when I hear about faeries packing hi-tech gear … call me narrow-minded :P
Still, it sounds like a good 'un!

Sounds exciting! :)
Gillian, I was wondering what youth camp you work at? It's not Miracle Mountain Ranch, is it?
Gillian Adams says
Charley – Artemis Fowl is actually on my list of books to read. Haven't got to it yet!
Ellyn – No, actually, I work at Frontier Camp in East Texas. It's a super awesome place!

lol! Actually, Charley, it's funny you should say that because even though I did not write the book with Artemis fowl or any of that series in mind at all, that is probably the comment I receive the most. It's ok, though. I take it as a compliment, as I think those books are epic. :)
However, the one thing I worry the most about is that people will think I wrote "Blue Moon" simply because of Artemis Fowl. Not so. Not so at all. In fact, Blue moon was written because of a writing prompt a friend gave me that had to do with a hospital gurney. lol! I love the fantasy genre, and had been wanting to try my hand at a slightly more urban version of the genre, and Blue Moon is the result.
Thank you for your comment! :) I'm glad it sounds fun to you.
