I saw this video posted over on Nichole White’s blog and I couldn’t help reposting!
Today, two thousand years ago, my Lord conquered Death. The true battle of light versus darkness, of good versus evil, was waged and won on that day. My Lord rose again. And Death died.
I love the imagery evoked by the words “high noon in the Valley of Shadow.” I picture an old western showdown, the two gunmen standing on a deserted street. A flash and the pistols are out, triggers pulled, hammers strike, and the bullets fly home. And in that killing shot, Death brings about his own demise.
I Corinthians 15:55-57 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Colossians 1:13-14 “For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

I'm just totally struck by the words "High Noon in the Valley of the Shadow".
Because if you really think about "High Noon", you realize that…
THERE ARE NO SHADOWS AT HIGH NOON!!!!
High noon is the one point of the day where there is no shade… there is no darkness, only LIGHT!!!! :)
When I realized the truth of those words, I was so struck with the song that I started to cry. The lyrics are beautiful, but the meaning behind them is even more so.
There is NO "Valley of the Shadow" in the light of Easter Sunday and Christ's "High noon".
There is only Christ!!! :D

Star-Dreamer! Yes! That's the other thing that came to mind! So beautiful, isn't it? But I have to admit, since I love the old west, that interpretation kinda stuck in my mind.
