Sorry for the silence on the blog last week. I had to leave town somewhat last minute and only just got back, so I wasn’t able to post anything.
But it’s finally time to announce the Merlin’s Blade giveaway winner!
And that lucky person is …
Layla!
Congratulations, Layla! Send an email with your mailing address to thesongkeeper(at)gmail(dot)com and I will ship your prize to you as soon as possible! Hope you enjoy Merlin’s Blade!
And in other news, I’m afraid we’re going to have to delay the Characters in Costume Challenge until next Friday, September 20th. I’m preparing for the ACFW conference this week — it starts on Thursday! — and it kinda snuck up on me this year, so I’m just a tad busy at the moment.
So, the Characters in Costume Challenge on Obstacle Characters will take place Friday, September 20th! I apologize for the delay, but this will give me time to finish honing my pitches and revising my one-sheets for the conference.
Whew! So much to be done. Not sure about you, but today’s the sort of day where I need an inspiring writing quote.
So here’s one for you! Do you have a favorite writing quote? Share in the comments!

Yay! I'm so glad to hear the Costume Challenge is postponed, because I'm not ready yet!
This isn't really a writing quote, but I like it.
“When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things [1 Cor. 13:11], including the fear of childishness.” — C. S. Lewis

Yes!!

Me neither. So it's a good thing I postponed it! ;)
Oh, I like that quote. *sigh* There are so many great quotes from C.S.Lewis … and Tolkien!

I'm not ready for Characters in Costume either. I've decided who I want … but haven't chased down the costume.
And here's a writing quote from C.S. Lewis that I like a lot:
"You can make anything by writing."
Gillian Adams says
That's another great quote. There are so many!
Here's another one I like from Gustave Flaubert. It always makes me feel better when I'm having a bad writing day — reminds me I'm not the only one!
“I am irritated by my own writing. I am like a violinist whose ear is true, but whose fingers refuse to reproduce precisely the sound he hears within.”
