Christmas is just over a week away …
Somehow I’m having a hard time wrapping my mind around that thought. This is my favorite time of year. I love the cool weather, and hanging up Christmas lights, and hunting down presents for my family and friends. It’s an exciting and happy time of year.
Exciting and happy because we get to celebrate the birth of our Savior … and the start of a far more massive and awesome “rescue” mission than you’ll find in any fantasy novel. :)
In honor of the fourth winter giveaway this fall, I’m upping the ante with three different fantasy prizes available this week for three different winners!
1st Prize
by Chuck Black
Journey to Arrethtrae where the King and His Son implement a bold plan to save their kingdom; where courage, faith, and loyalty stand tall in the face of opposition; where good will not bow to evil; and where hope and compassion are as powerful weapons as the sword.
2nd Prize
by John Flanagan
He had always wanted to be a warrior.
The Rangers, with their dark cloaks and shadowy ways, have always made him nervous. The villagers believe the Rangers practice magic that makes them invisible to ordinary people. And now fifteen-year-old Will, always small for his age, has been chosen as a Ranger’s apprentice. What he doesn’t yet realize is that the Rangers are the protectors of the kingdom. Highly trained in the skills of battle and surveillance, they fight the battles before the battles reach the people. And as Will is about to learn, there is a large battle brewing. The exiled Morgarath, Lord of the Mountains of Rain and Night, is gathering his forces for an attack on the kingdom. This time, he will not be denied …
3rd Prize
by Jacob R. Parker
He’s waiting …
The land of Gable–renowned for its birds, revered for its legends and secrets–is home to the grandest castle in the known world. Inside this castle, in a narrow cell atop the dungeon tower, the legendary Marauder known as James Kestrel awaits his hanging.
Amidst the anticipation and speculation surrounding his execution, rumors are spreading that the Marauders will come out of hiding to free Kestrel and unleash the secret he so carefully guards. But only a wandering giant and a slave girl masquerading as an innkeeper know the truth.
And everything will fall to the shoulders of a traveling shepherd boy … with no knowledge that his treacherous journey will decide the pending fate of the world.

Note: Sorry for the confusion, folks. I didn’t realize that the Rafflecopter I was using still had the same question on it from last time. I just put a new one up, but if you’ve already commented and answered the old question, that’s still fine! :)

I was about to not enter this because I already have the first two sets of books. But then I saw Kestral's Midnight Song and I was like ohmypumpernickel! I've never found anyone giving away a copy of it before, and since it was written by a person on a forum I'm on (albeit an oldie member who I rarely see), I really want to read it.
Thanks for the giveaway!

What a fantastic giveaway! :) I've read the first series but never the other two books.
Ooh, you always put to us such a hard question! I'm going change my answer and say my favorite King Arthur adaption is…the original King Arthur legends. xD
Thank-you so much for all your great posts and for sharing of your literary wealth with us! :) I hope you have a lovely Christmas!

This is an awesome giveaway!
I don't know if this counts, but I enjoy the King Arthur elements in ABC's TV show 'Once Upon a Time.' There isn't much, but the Lady of the Lake, Lancelot, and Excalibur have all made an appearance. I also enjoy reading the original Arthur tales.
Thanks for holding this giveaway! Merry Christmas! :)
Kiri Liz says
These are some of my favorite books!! Chuck Black is a really great author!! Thanks for hosting!
Ummm…. probably the original tales. I haven't seen much of Arthur legends in movies, so I'm reverting to the books.

I've been interested in the Ranger's Apprentice the most, but the other two grasped my interest as well.

Gah, I already have RoG, but the first prize series looks cool!

My favorite Arthurian legends is BBC's Merlin. I love all the darker looker characters, perfect for that time period.
Josie says
Oooh–Tough question. I LOVED BBC's Merlin. The characters' development kind of dragged me in–I'm a sucker for character development. XD

I need a good cover to catch my eye, but I also want a really good description so I know what it's about so I don't waste my time or money on a book I won't like.
And as for my favorite Arthurian legend (this question seems to no longer be there, but I'll go ahead and answer it as well!), well, I'm kinda partial to my own interpretation in my Bookania Quests, but I suppose you'd like me to pick out one that isn't mine. I think I'll go with the Magic Tree House books by Mary Pope Osborne. They're wonderful little books, and they're a fond chapter in my childhood.
Kendra E. Ardnek says
Ooh! And I'd also like to add the Sir Cumference books. Math and Camelot – what could be a better combination?
Allison Ruvidich says
Almost never the cover. Book covers usually bother me; I prefer a sleek, trim, no-nonsense design, or one that really fits the book.
Sir Cumference? I need to investigate this… ; )
Molly says
OH I love The Ranger's Apprentice!! That is such a good series; my lil bro is obsessed with them and that's saying something for him! eheheh.
When I buy a book, I look at the cover first. If it's interesting, I'll read the back and then flip through the first couple of pages. But I'll try it out at the library before I buy it, lol!
