I know what you’re thinking. A chance to win a free book – a fantasy no less – full of dragons, portals, and funny characters? Sounds a bit like Christmas in July March, doesn’t it?
“Well why not?” say I, snuggled beneath a heap of blankets, casting a baleful glare at the frostbitten world outside. “If it’s jolly well going to act like December, we might as well enjoy it, right?”
(I do realize that frost is typical March weather for a good portion of the world – the frozen portion – but I am from Texas, and I have certain concrete views about exactly when and where and how cold weather should be permitted to occur. March does not fall into that list. So pray pardon my cold-weather-wimpiness and allow me to enjoy my hot chocolate and blankets and host a Christmas-in-March giveaway for your enjoyment!)
Enter the giveaway using the Rafflecopter below! (Due to the high cost of hiring international carrier pigeons, this giveaway is restricted to US entries only.)

I hear you! I'm not in Texas, but I certainly think that winter should be OVER by now. But giveaways are awesome!
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Yes, so ready for it to be spring again! :)
Jill Stengl says
As a Southern CA girl transplanted to northern WI, I feel your pain. :-) We have more snow on the ground this year than I have seen in our 14 years here in Wisconsin. More than enough for me!
But, to be honest, I really don't miss the crowds of Los Angeles County. This is a gorgeous place to live, snow, cold, and all!
If I win this book, I will try it with a cup of hot tea, snuggly blankets, and perhaps a purring cat on the lap for good measure. :-)
Oh, and the baleful glare. Mustn't forget that. Helps with snow melt.
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Oh goodness, you have my sympathy. I'm sure my Texas winter can't hold a candle to your Wisconsin frozen wonderland. ;)
Oh, yes, a purring cat does make a nice addition. Mine unfortunately is still too much of a kitten to enjoy much sitting down and snuggling. She'll cuddle for a couple of minutes but then she goes stir crazy and dashes off to chase leaves.
Hannah says
Ooo, brrrrrrrrr. But thank you so much for this giveaway! That is so awesome!
Let's see my favorite dragon…probably the Dragonwitch from Anne Elisabeth Stengl's Tales of Goldstone Wood. She's evil…but she's so tragic and fascinating. I was actually sobbing for her at one point. But I think a new favorite dragon will be approaching later on in the series…
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Ah, yes, the Dragonwitch. .She's definitely one of my favorites. After Smaug, I think.
Hannah says
I indirectly shared about your previous Fantasy Reflection today while sharing a short story inspired by it. Would that count as an entry in the giveaway?
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Yep! Absolutely! (Especially now that I've read it.)
Charley Robson says
US only? Dangit! This book looks awesome!
Jake says
Wonderful! I've been wanting to read this.
And I suppose having a U.S. address counts, right, since it's shipping that's in question? Even if I'm not a current resident of the States?
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Yep! That works! :)
Ryebrynn says
I'd have to say that the Dragonwitch/Hri Sora would be my favorire dragon. She evil, but somehow you can feel sorry for her.
Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
-Ryebrynn
Gillian Bronte Adams says
She does have such a tragic tales. Makes for a very fascinating and multi-faceted character.
Thanks for entering!
Layla says
I don't exactly have a favorite dragon… maybe one from Seraphina, but the bame is a spoiler ;P
Layla says
*the name is a spoiler
Athelas Hale says
Yes! It's too cold for March. Thankfully, all of our snow melted away yesterday and it's much warmer today. But, if we're going to be pretending… Merry Christmas!
I've read Donita K. Paul's Dragon Keeper Chronicles, but haven't had a chance to read this series, though I've been wanting to for awhile. Thanks so much for this giveaway! (And your review!)
As for my favorite dragon… Must I pick a favorite? There's so many. …If I had to pick, at least right now, I would probably say "the yellow-eyed dragon" (as he no longer has a name, or so he has insisted) from Anne Elisabeth Stengl's books. I cry at his death every time I read Moonblood.
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Merry Christmas to you too, and a Happy New … no, that's carrying it a bit too far. :)
Ooh that's a great one: the yellow-eyed dragon. Almost all the dragons in the Tales of Goldstone Wood somehow manage to twist your emotions around so that you can't help feeling sorrow for them. They have such sad stories, and they're locked in a prison of their own choosing. It's heartbreaking.
Writer4Christ says
Toothless might be my favorite dragon from a movie. But I could be wrong :P
.Speaking of Dragons, I should read that book series in prep for the second movie…
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Toothless is pretty awesome. My cat's named after him. At least, she was at first, but then I got to thinking about how Toothless was a Night Fury … and Fury is a way more intense and awesome name than Toothless. So now, I call her Fury. :)
deborahocarroll says
I don't know if you're still in TX but living here as I do and having such a nasty few months of weather (and, well, today, for example) I agree wholeheartedly! *joins you in the baleful glaring from under mounds of blankets*
That has to be one of the most intriguing covers ever… o.o
My favorite dragon… I couldn't think of any favorites except Kazul from the Enchanted Forest series, but then I saw the previous comment. :D Toothless!!! He's definitely my favorite! ^_^ Ah, that movie… <3
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Yep, I am! And I agree that this weather is completely inappropriate for a Texas spring. It's positively un-Texas!
I love Kazul and the whole Enchanted Forest series! Glad you picked her … and Toothless too, of course.
Lauriloth says
Oh, I've been dying to get my hands on this book! Donita K. Paul is one of my favorite authors! You're awesome so sweet to do this giveaway, Gillian! ^_^
And I'm a fellow southerner myself. This freezing weather in March has confuzzled me most greatly. Though, honestly, I quite like it. I'm partial to cold weather. It's just…odd. Usually March means pulling out the capris, not the scarves.
Favorite dragon…goodness. That's quite a question. So many grand dragons out there. I'm leaning in favor of Hartanna from the Dragons in Our Midst/Oracles of Fire series by Bryan Davis. I don't know why, but I've always just loved her. Then there's Toothless… And we can't forget Smaug. He was an excellent villain. Kazul is great… I love Shardas from Dragon Slippers. Oh my! I think I love ALL the dragons. But for the sake of this question I'll go with Hartanna. I think it changes daily though.
Gillian Bronte Adams says
It is odd. We got a taste of spring two weeks ago where I live and it was simply glorious! Guess I'm just impatient to pull out the shorts and t-shirts again!
Jenelle Leanne says
:) I'm sorry you're cold and miserable. That's about how I am in the summer. I'm a Chicago-transplant living in NC and I, too, have definite ideas of when seasons are supposed to start and end and how they should look/feel. I'm just at the opposite end of the spectrum from you. I like my summers to stay solidly below 90 degrees, and my winters to last from Nov-March and get lots of snow. Spring and Fall should be below 70 from Sep-Oct and April-May. :) :)
Favorite dragon… hm… well, I absolutely love the dragons in Reign of Fire – just because they're the first dragons ever done REALLY WELL in film.
But they're not really fantasy dragons.
So I'm gonna have to go with Smaug for the evil dragons category.
And Kazul for the good (but not tame!) dragons category.
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Okay, I was just told recently that I should watch Reign of Fire. I hadn't ever heard of it before. But if it has really cool dragons that gives it an instant plus in my book. ;)
Kate S (4readin) says
Mt favorite dragon would probably have to be Smaug, from The Hobbit. I love that series.
This looks like an awesome book! Thanks for sharing about it. :)
Gillian Bronte Adams says
I do love Smaug. He's just so deadly and terrifying in the book. So old and proud and conceited in his cunning.
acceleratethejesusmovement says
I'd have to say that my favorite dragon is Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon! He is so cute and funny!
And BTW…I totally understand where you're coming from about Texas…I was wearing my swimsuit literally the day before we got like 4 inches of ice! March is not supposed to be cold!
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Have you seen the trailer for the new How to Train your Dragon movie? So excited about it. Can't wait to see Toothless and Hiccup and all the rest of the vikings and dragons again! :)
