Somehow the summer is gone, the month of August is flying by, and time seems to slip ever more quickly between my fingers. Have you ever experienced this phenomenon? It is unsettling, to be sure. Time is a precious thing, and far too often, it is wasted.
But here we are, with August waning and September charging to the attack, and it is time for our next Dreamworld Fantasy giveaway. I’m terribly excited about this giveaway selection. Unfortunately, I have not had time to actually read it, but I am familiar enough with this author’s work to guarantee a “good one.”
Our giveaway selection is Dreamtreaders by Wayne Thomas Batson! Due to shipping costs, (and the risks associated with pirate attacks, hurricane winds, and dragon fire), I’m offering a paperback copy to entrants in the US and an ebook copy to international entrants. Enter the giveaway through the Rafflecopter below. But first, a bit about the book …
Dreamtreaders
Fourteen-year-old Archer Keaton discovers he has the ability to enter and explore his dreams. He is a “dreamtreader,” one of three selected from each generation. Their mission: to protect the waking world from the Nightmare Lord, who wreaks chaos in the Dream World. But as Archer’s dreams become more dangerous and threatening, so too does his waking life.
Rigby Thames, the new kid from England, builds a suspicious rock star-like following at Dresden High School a little too quickly. Even Archer’s best friend and confidant, Kara Windchil, seems taken in by the cool guy with the wild blond hair, which definitely rubs Archer the wrong way. Archer must face two foes in two worlds, but he cannot succeed alone. Archer sets off to find other dreamtreaders in a desperate attempt to defeat the enemy terrorizing his friends and family.

The one last night where I had my son was pretty great – probably mostly because labour in the dream was no big deal and took like five minutes, LOL
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Haha! Wow. Five minutes? That sounds like a good dream.
Polaris Norhtstar says
I think the most interesting dreams I have is when I can 1) fly, or 2) when I know that I am dreaming… and can do anything I like ;).
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Ah I love when I can fly in my dreams … though I have a tendency to crash land. I can usually control my dreams and steer them when I want to go, but the more I mess with the dream, the quicker I wake up. Sounds a bit like Inception, huh?
Sarah says
Best dream I’ve ever had? Hard to say. But the dream I had the other night was pretty cool- I don’t remember the first half clearly, but in the second half, I realized someone was the Witch of the Waste, and she had Howl’s heart, and I plotted with a band of cats to defeat her. Sadly, I woke up before we actually decided a plan. :(
I have read Dreamtreaders, BTW. Sadly, it’s not as good as some other Batson books. :P
Gillian Bronte Adams says
So you’ve read some of Batson’s other books? Do you have a favorite? Like I said, I haven’t had a chance to read Dreamtreaders yet, but I got the impression that it’s geared more toward a middle grade audience – like the Door Within – whereas the Dark Sea Anals and the Isle series are more YAish. Would you agree with that?
Deborah O'Carroll says
*creeps into conversation* OH MY GOODNESS SARAH. YOU DREAMED ABOUT HOWL??? :O AWESOME! :D That is the coolest ever. <3
Matthew S says
I’ve heard a lot about this book, and it was creepily similar to a project I was working on a few months before this came out…even the villain’s name was the same. :O Has WTB somehow managed to hack my computer? XD
No entries for “sharing” this giveaway? :( I don’t have Twitter or Goodreads accounts, but I do have Google+…
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Oh that’s the worst! I’ve had that happen before. Come up with the most brilliant idea ever … only to discover that someone else had just published it. Guess it is true that there are no completely original ideas out there anymore.
I didn’t put in any entries for sharing this time, but if you share it on Google+ and then put the link into the box on the Goodreads entry, I’ll let it count.

I’ve heard good things about Wayne Thomas Batson! I’ve not read any of his books yet, but they sound amazing!
Gillian Bronte Adams says
He does have some excellent books! The Door Within Trilogy was the first contemporary-written fantasy that I ever read. Before that, I’d been reading and re-reading The Lord of the Rings and C.S. Lewis and a bunch of historical fiction. So Batson’s books opened the way for me to discover the excellent fantasy novels out there and eventually learn to write fantasy myself!
Clare says
I don’t normally have nice dreams… but there may have been one I remember in which I took all these great photos… then I woke up and found I had not really taken any of those photos….
Gillian Bronte Adams says
I think sometimes we tend to remember the scary ones, either because they startle us awake and so we remember it, or because it’s so scary we just can’t forget! I have had a few good ones that I have remembered though, and sometimes they’re so real that I almost can’t quite tell if it actually happened or not …
Susan says
The best dream I ever had was when I dreamed that I was a horse. It seems like one of the most thrilling things in the world!
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Oh wow! I bet that was an interesting dream.
Rachelle O'Neil says
I find myself at a complete loss of the best dream I’ve ever had. :D I think a recent favorite of mine involved a long-time crush of mine. ‘Nough said.
I’ve wanted to read Wayne Thomas Batson’s books for quite some time! I’ve just never made myself dig one up. :D What’s your personal favorite of his, Gillian?
Gillian Bronte Adams says
Hmm. My personal favorite. Well, the Door Within trilogy introduced me to contemporarily written fantasy (did I just invent that word?) so it has a special place in my heart. And I loved the Isle series because … pirates. ‘Nuff said. But I’ve really enjoyed the Dark Sea Annals and I’m looking forward to getting to read the rest of that series once it’s finished.
Deborah O'Carroll says
Ooh, Dreamtreaders! I’ve been super intrigued about this ever since I first heard about it! Dreams fascinate me. :)
As for a favorite/really good dream… aaahh, I don’t know! I guess whenever I dream about my characters. That’s always FABULOUS. (And doesn’t happen nearly enough. XD)
I agree about Time. Yes. Tricksy little thing, always slipping away (how is it almost September??). Also — the site looks nice! It’s new that the blog’s over here, yes? Pwetty. :)
Gillian Bronte Adams says
You dream about your characters? That’s super cool. I don’t think I’ve ever dreamed about one of my characters before … Now I want to try it. If only dreams came on command … :)
Glad you like the new site! I’m still in the formatting process. I have to go back and reformat a lot of the old posts. But I love having everything in one place!
Elizabeth says
The best dream…wow, that’s difficult! I’ve had several involving me with close friends and family in Middle-Earth or somewhere similar, fighting evil epically :) Those were pretty awesome. Also, when I can fly in my dreams…for me it’s more like kicking off the ground and hovering/floating in the air, and I always have enemies in the dream or someone I’m trying to get away from…and I just jump off somewhere high while they stand there speechless :) I also had a vivid dream of Heaven when I was about ten, and it was lovely.
