Generally, I fail at writing poetry. I like writing in general, but I have never mastered the art of writing poetry. Of course I can rhyme words together – there’s nothing difficult about that – but complicated rhymes and difficult meters are unfortunately beyond my skill.
That said, I did write a poem a little while ago that I thought I would post here. It’s rather simple and there’s no specific meter. It is definitely neither epic nor magnificent. And it’s not supposed to be. The poem captures what was going on in my heart and the realization that swept over me as I wrote it. In fact, it is not really a poem at all, it was my prayer. Too often, we think of praying as always asking for something, rather than talking to our Father, praising His name, and being comforted by His mercy.

Excellent post! Great poem. I'm not much better with complicated schemes, and I never manage to catch the depth I try to reach…
