The days are longer, the sun is hotter, the grass is already getting brown and crunchy in my back pasture and the soil is beginning to crack.
Summer days are here again. (Technically for those of us in Texas, summer started in March, but no need to press the point!) It’s summer and that means…I’m off to work at camp!
For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been working at a Christian youth camp for the past several years. This summer (my sixth!), I’m going to be serving as their head wrangler, which means that I have pretty much the awesomest job at camp! I get to play with kids and work with horses and serve alongside some of the most incredible people in the world. First and foremost, I have the opportunity to share Christ’s love with all the campers who come to my horsemanship classes!
Unfortunately, this means that my blog posts are going to become somewhat scarce and far between during the summer months. During the week, we put aside our phones and laptops and focus on our purpose for being at camp – serving the kids and showing them Christ! :) I’ll still have internet connection on the weekends and I’ll be able to respond to emails then.
So, don’t go away! I’ll be sure to sneak back here every now and then as I have time on the weekends and leave a little surprise for you! Two book reviews are waiting, as well as stories from my summer adventures, perhaps a Villainy 101 post or two, and perhaps… if I’m feeling especially generous… I’ll even share an excerpt from my current work-in-progress Song of Leira!
Over the summer weekends, I plan to finish my rewrite of Song of Leira and get it all polished up before the ACFW conference in the fall.
For now, I’m off! As always, your prayers are greatly appreciated for the staff, and the campers, and the weather (no more droughts, please!). But most of all, please pray that this would be a fruitful summer. That the love of Christ would be evident in all of the staff, and that the Lord would do a mighty work in the hearts of all the campers!
Sneak peak at what I get to do during the summer. This was a rules video we made last summer to remind the campers not to bully… My horse and I were only too excited to get to be in it! :)

Have fun Gillian :-) I'll for sure be keeping you in my prayers and Texas… I know last year was a really hard year for you guys.
How fun to work at a Christian youth camp! I've been really wanting to do something like that too, but sadly don't have one close enough to me. Please do tell us about your adventures… I always enjoy your post, I'm just a little bad on leaving you a comment.:D
Have a really blessed summer Gillian!

Have fun! Summer's only just caught up with us over here in Puddle-and-Rain England, but I hope you have barrels of fun!
Looking forward to hearing all about your adventures when you can, or even when you get back. I may or may not be nursing a huge jealousy of you and your campers right now, haha!
Have fun, stay safe, and don't get eaten by the mosquitos! :)

Awesome! Have fun!
Love the video, by the way. XD I love horses, and Western stuff, and man, I want my mom to take me to horseback riding classes. XD
Good luck!

You are praying no more droughts, up here in Michigan's upper peninsula we just want no more snow— every once in a while we get a late snowstorm.
Hope you have a great time at camp!
