Welcome, fellow warriors and weary travelers alike. Set aside your burdens, kick off your muddy boots, and have a seat beside the hearth.
I am a horse-riding, sunset-chasing, coffee-loving fantasy author from Texas. Epic fantasy is my genre of choice. In my novels, you can expect battle and bloodshed, but bravery and beauty as well. Heartache and hope. Sorrow and sacrifice, but also courage and peace.
I write about broken characters muddling their way down broken roads. Though my heroes and heroines may not be clad in shining armor, they are willing to stand to the fight even when their armor is battered and torn and simply standing requires what strength they have left.
They are the forgotten, the wounded, the outcasts. They are us. And so often, I have found, it is the thorn-riddled paths that yield the greatest beauty in the end.
So why do I write these books?
One could say I write because I must. At times, the battle ache stirs in my soul. Restlessness eats at my bones. My heart urges me to rise, to hunt adventure, to fight and sacrifice like the heroes at old. I am a warrior born in the wrong era, a knight errant in the wrong century, doomed to pound the keys and write the stories I long to live.
But ultimately, I write because I believe in the strength of story. I believe in the ability of characters to mold and shape readers, and in the power of a story to inspire, empower, and encourage. The true beauty and glory of fantasy is its ability to capture the deepest truths and set them in a new light, to ask questions and inspire thought, to leave the reader searching for something greater. Like a glimpse of stars at the bottom of a well, fantasy serves as a reflection of some of the highest truths and deepest desires of mankind.
That is what I strive to write.
I hope you will join me on my journey, because this writing business is a great and terrible adventure and every author needs brave readers at their side to see it through.
