“By the time you read this, the book you are holding in
your hands will most likely be banned. Inside you will find the second volume
in the chronicles of Logan and Lily Langly, Erin Arbitor, Daniel Peck, and the
Dust. Their story is dangerous; the knowledge within is forbidden. You must not
be seen reading this. You must not be noticed holding it. Breathe not a whisper
of it, even to your closest friends. For the walls have ears-and DOME is always
listening…“
So Evan Angler begins the author’s note in the first pages of Sneak the second book in the
Swipe Series, a YA apocalyptic dystopian. I’ll admit, I rarely read the
author’s note—I generally like to dive right into the story—but the opening
sentence of Evan Angler’s note gripped my attention and set the stage for the
rest of the book.

In Sneak, Logan Langley’s
life has fallen apart. The world he believed in has crumbled and he is on the
run with DOME at his heels. He dreams of finding his sister, Lily, and rescuing
her from what can only be a living death. To accomplish this, Logan is forced
to team up with those that he once considered enemies—the Dust, Peck, even Erin
Arbitor.

All the uneasiness, threats, and danger that filled Swipe are escalated in Sneak. The plot felt much more
substantial to me. I was intrigued by all of the plot twists and enjoyed watching
as questions are answered and still more mysteries are uncovered.

Although the story intrigued me, I found I didn’t bond as deeply
as I would have wished with the characters. They were just that—characters—not people
that I felt I had grown to truly know and love. While I could sympathize with
their predicaments and hope that they could accomplish their goals, I did not care about them as much as I would have
liked to.

That said I enjoyed reading Sneak
and look forward to reading book three when it is available!

The trailer is cool.
Is it in the Christian category?
Gillian Adams says
Yes, it is! It's an apocalyptic dystopian based on aspects of Revelation and the mark of the beast.
Writer4Christ says
It sounds interesting! I'll see if I can read it sometime.
Charley Robson says
Hmm. An interesting proposition of a book, I'd say. Though I feel i ought to read "Swipe" first if I am to understand what was going on. Or are they fairly self-contained?
Gillian Adams says
Yes, definitely read "Swipe" first. Otherwise, you'll have a hard time picking up on what's going on in "Sneak." :)
