Lo and behold, it’s time for the next giveaway! The focus for this month is portal fantasy, for those of us who wish our closets were doorways to other worlds or that there was a Narnia at the back of every wardrobe, but must content ourselves with books instead. So I am exited that Lisa Tawn Bergren has offered you the winner’s choice of one book from the River of Time series!
I first discovered this series a couple of years ago and quickly devoured the books as they became available, beguiled by the idea of two sisters whisked off to medieval Italy. Enter the giveaway through the Rafflecopter below, but first, a bit about the books …
Waterfall, Book One
Gabriella has never spent a summer in Italy like this one. Remaining means giving up all she’s known and loved … and leaving means forfeiting what she’s come to know—and love itself.
Most American teenagers want a vacation in Italy, but the Betarrini sisters have spent every summer of their lives with their parents, famed Etruscan scholars, among the romantic hills. In Book One of the River of Time series, Gabi and Lia are stuck among the rubble of medieval castles in rural Tuscany on yet another hot, boring, and dusty archeological site … until Gabi places her hand atop a handprint in an ancient tomb and finds herself in fourteenth-century Italy. And worse yet, in the middle of a fierce battle between knights of two opposing forces. And thus she comes to be rescued by the knight-prince Marcello Forelli, who takes her back to his father’s castle—a castle Gabi has seen in ruins in another life.
Suddenly Gabi’s summer in Italy is much, much more interesting. But what do you do when your knight in shining armor lives, literally, in a different world?

Ah! Ah! Ah! I want this one so much! I keep hearing so many good things about this series but I can't get my hands on it!
Also, if I could, I'd go on a total time-tour of the ancient world: the days before the Flood; Egypt and Rome and Athens and Jerusalem each at the time when they were at their peak, with extra stops for some of the Bible events I'd most want to see (David killing Goliath, Moses parting the Red Sea, the Crucifixion), then travel forward to medieval times and see all the castles and such, and end my trip with a jaunt through Renaissance Italy.
Jaime says
I love love love this series! :) (Since I own them already, I'm not going to enter–but whoever gets it will get a wonderful prize)
This is such a good series. A part of me wants to travel to the Middle Ages because of this series, but then I read the Dreamhouse Kings books… and decided that's not a good idea. XD (too many torture devices, right?)
I think I'd like to visit the 1920s or the Old 1800s West. but I'm still drawn to feudal systems–maybe feudal Japan? I don't know!!! too many choices. :)
Jenelle Leanne says
I would want to go to Europe during the Renaissance. Though I also really like Sarah's idea of seeing the world pre-flood or just go on a historical tour of everything… and I also love the idea of visiting the Old West… so many things I'd like to see… hard to choose just one.
Elizabeth Anne D. says
If I could go back in time and to any place, I would go back to the time of the ancient Picts and Celts and visit the British Isles. It would be so cool to figure out how Stonehenge actually got there and what is true about all of the old celtic myths.
Susan says
I would definitely want to go to a place like ancient Korea or Japan. These books look very cool!
Bethany Youngblood says
Oh my gosh, I only get to pick one place and time? *flails* But I want to visit it all! I'd love to go back and see the Tower of Babel right before the languages split off. But I'd also love to see when Stonehenge was raised…and when the maya built their pyramids..and when the ancient native americans built Cahokia! *sighs* I can't decide.
Emma Jayne says
The Titanic in 1912 on the fourteenth and fifteenth of April! I know it seems cruel, but I have always been fascinated by the Titanic, and it would be amazing if I could experience that night… of course I wouldn't want to die
Elizabeth says
I've always been fascinated by the Middle Ages, but I'd pick a time when the Black Death isn't raging…and when they're not persecuting all non-Catholics. :) I've read nearly all of the River of Time books (not the last two yet!) but I don't own any of them. So excited for this giveaway! These books are fantastic. Thank you, Gillian!
Bookishqueen says
To be honest, I would go back to yesterday. Because, while I am fascinated by the past, I would never want to live there.

Ella says
I would go to the late 1700s so I could meet people like George Washington and Abigail Adams.
songbird says
If I could go back in time, I would want to go back to the 1940's or 1950's and meet my Grandparents when they were young. I would also want to go dancing while I was there.
Caryl Kane says
If I could travel back in time, I would like to worship in the tabernacle with King David.
Sierra Faith says
I would like to meet Jesus and be one of his followers!
Ants and Epic says
Hm…back in time? As long as I didn't have to live there, I might like to visit Japan of several hundred years ago…or maybe Ireland!
These books look so neat, thanks for this giveaway!

Polaris Northstar says
I would love to go to the beginning before sin, or after the flood while dragons and dinosaurs still roamed the earth in droves, or to medieval times (although I don't know what place), Oooo I would love to go back to the times of the Vikings!
I LOVE these books (but I have only read up to # 3 because I have not been able to get my hands on the rest yet =(. I can't wait to read the rest! So thank you for doing this giveaway!
Grace Gidman says
I've heard of this series, I would be interested in reading them. Ha, that door to Narnia hits close to home. I'm one of those people who whenever they see a wardrobe they peak in the back and knock on the wood, just to make sure.
Clare says
Id like to go back in time to England in the days of knights and many castles.
Ryebrynn says
Ah! I love these books! It would be sooo epic to get one of them :D
I would go back to the 1600s and join up with the pirates…. or sometime in the medieval days(but that's iffy, because I'd have to wear a corset :O)

I saw these at a library and thought they looked really good!
If I could go back in time I'd like to go with midieval Europe(probably Scotland or Ireland).
Elizabeth says
Scotland! I want to go there one day. And New Zealand….probably because they both remind me of Lord of the Rings (of course New Zealand does, since it was shot there).
Dom says
I would go back to the garden of Eden. I really want to know what the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil was. It is seriously something my family goes over like once a week.
Athelas Hale says
AH, such a difficult question! *thinks*
Oi. No, I can't think of any which I would most like to be in. I'll comment again later. xP
Athelas Hale says
Okay, yes. I've decided. xP If I could go to another world, I would go, without a doubt, to Middle Earth, Valinor, to stop Feanor and his sons from making their oath. If I'm confined to our world, I would have to pick World War II, the sinking of the Titanic, or some other disastrous time period. I don't know if I would be able to do any good, but.. I would sure like to give it a try.
Elizabeth says
Stopping Feanor's oath…that would have been good. He caused a lot of trouble…putting it mildly… If I could go to another world, getting Isildur to destroy the Ring would have been on my list.
Athelas Hale says
He and… Well, mostly his sons, were all just so tragic . I wouldn't have stopped him to keep away the trouble…I would stop him to save him and his sons. They were basically the most epic elves in Middle Earth, and the ones that made the greatest mistake. That would be a good thing to do, too… Though, if the Ring had been destroyed, would they have been able to find out about Sauraman before it was too late?
Kailin Richardson says
Hmmm I think I would go back to Victorian sort of times, but like Pride and Prejudice. And of course I'd go to England…
Sparks of Ember says
I have to say I'm mostly glad to be born in modern times with modern amenities. Regency England would be interesting. And maybe New England right after the revolutionary war. Or during the expansion out west…
Ekaterina says
This book looks so amazing! This sounds like something I will like without a question.
Hmmm. I would like to go back in time to a lot of places. I think I would go back into 1950's America, or late 19th century Russia.
Rachelle O'Neil says
I think I'd like to go to Ancient Greece or Rome, honestly. I've always been fascinated by the culture and history of that era. :)
This series looks really neat! Thanks for putting this on, Gillian!
Eissac Selur says
Why is this such a hard question to answer?! Oh ya cuz history is awesome!!!!! I would choose to meet Jesus and Abe Lincoln and then probably see the Titanic… Those area top 3… For today.. ;)
Eissac Selur says
*are my
Jack says
If I had to pick one time and place to go back to it would be Scotland during the days of William Wallace
Elizabeth Kupper says
Ohh I would choose that too! Have you ever heard the audio drama "In Freedoms Cause"?
~Elizabeth~
Jack says
I read the book but I had no idea there was an audio drama! I need to see if I can find that.
Elizabeth Kupper says
Here's the link to the audio drama! :)
